Singapore PM's salary stuns White House official

WASHINGTON (AFP) - A senior White House official on Tuesday admitted he was floored by the news that Singapore's prime minister earned five times more than US
President George W. Bush.

"I'm going to emigrate and run for office in Singapore," the official said on condition he be identified only as "a senior administration official who sits in disbelief after reading that story."

On Monday, the Singapore government had announced a fresh 25.5 percent pay hike for Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, boosting his salary to 2.05 million dollars per year.

Bush gets paid 400,000 dollars per year for doing his job, according to the White House.

Combined with personal investment income, he and his wife Laura reported 618,694 dollars in taxable income in the 2005 fiscal year. They had to pay 187,768 dollars in federal taxes.

But maybe Bush shouldn't feel so bad. The Singaporean's paycheck is eight times fatter than Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's.

Penang's best gym for muscles!

I think I had my share of gyms around the world.

I'ed worked out in Canada, Japan, Taiwan and Malaysia.

I feel its all about the same, what sets a good gym apart is the owner.

Right now I am going to E gym in the New Bob Building Opposite of Peng Hwa which is above on the 1st floor above the two korean restaurants.

The thing about this gym is its small and the owner is great with people and tells you what exercise to do for bulk/cut. The great thing is that he is there to give you a hand to if you cant do the reps or feel like giving up. I have been to another small gym in Penang owned by some bodybuilder which is just too unfriendly (sombong!). Guess what, he closed down after a while.

The gym has the proper equipment, not more not less but I realize now that what makes a good gym is not the equipment but the boss and he sets the atmosphere. I like it that everyone is friendly and talks to you there. The friendliness I see here is hard to find else where I feel.

He's not paying me to write this but I do this because its a way I want to pay him back for helping me get on the right track and also for the big gains in muscles!

If you do go there say Mark (which is my name) sent you there and you want the special RM 50 per month. This rm 50 promo was made up by me. I told Eric (thats the name of the Boss) that some people might not want to pay the usual rm 120 sign up fee and might just wanna try out the gym first. So right now he's giving it a shot. Rm 50 is for one month only, if you really like it and want to continue its rm 120 for registration and rm 40 (for now only, he wants to raise it soon) per month.

So if you wanna have a serious body and can wanna learn more about muscles come to E Gym!

Again, Mr Lim have shown his true color of being a rakyat orientated CM. He refuse to pay RM100k for repair works at the official residence of CM in Pg. He choose to stay in an old house belonging to his father, says the Deputy PAS president in Pg recently.

The Deputy President wanted to meet CM, to discuss on some work matters, due to CM's busy schedule, the duo have to meet up at 10pm. And the place suggested was at McD restaurant but due to security purposes, they are advised not to.

End up meeting at CM's old residence, the Deputy says,
"Di rumah, dia biasa sahaja dengan "seluaq katok" (seluar pendek). Bila saya tengok keadaan rumah yang berusia tempat dia tinggal, saya tanya dia, kenapa tak pindah ke rumah rasmi Ketua Menteri?

Midlands One Stop Robbery!

There was a robbery at about 2 pm Sunday (16th march) today at Gerbang Midlands (the road infront of Midlands condo) . A Mercedes PDA??? 8777's mirror was smashed and robbed. I am not sure what really happened but I was told by those who saw it she was robbed. When I walk passed her mirror was broken and I was told a Chinese man on a bike with a white shirt is the robber. I stood n watched for a while; the lady was screaming/crying because of the ordeal. It happened infront of her house, the robber was parked in front of the kopi tiam kinda house at the end of the road.
For those of you around pulau tikus watch out as there are things happening now. Even my Neighbor who lived beside me almost got robbed. I live IN Midlands condo and that person who tried to break into my neighbors house was very smart came in quietly and tried to rob them around 7 something. This was before CNY. Lucky the house was not robbed because the wooden door was locked. The metal gate which is the first door, was cut. Imagine that solid metal cut quietly. Thives are getting smarter. Realize that its the Chinese itself who are doing this not the Malays or Indians.

Singapore's version of BN
One thing I realize about all govenments is that when someone of group that holds power too long wants to hold it forever. For our case its the BN and for Singapore its the PAP. PAP stands for Peoples action party.

Looking at the PAP logo you can see that it resembles the DAP Logo. Similar isnt it?
Well, heres the killer point, Actually they were the same party.

The DAP was originally the Malaysian branch of the Singapore People's Action Party (PAP). However, Singapore seceded from the federation in 1965, just two years after the territories merged. Most of the Malaysian PAP members decided to remain with the original party, but those that decided to continue the party, including future President of Singapore Devan Nair, stayed in Malaysia to form the DAP in October 1965.^[2] The party formally registered itself as a democratic socialist party on March 18, 1966.^[3] In the August of that year, the official party organ, The Rocket, was first published. At the first DAP National Congress held in Setapak, Kuala Lumpur on July 29, 1967, the DAP declared itself to be "irrevocably committed to the ideal of a free, democratic and socialist Malaysia, based on the principles of racial and religious equality, social and economic justice, and founded on the institution of parliamentary democracy"

We are luckier than Singaporeans, we got more land, more voice, we have a strong opposition. Singapore's opposition is very weak because the PAP makes sure it does not have any voice at all. DAP, PKR, PAS may be our heroes now, but when they get greedy we need to kick them out. Too much power destroys any good government; remember the Singapore PAP party was the same as our DAP.

Giant man-eating catfish found in Guangdong reservoir?

We found the following email in our mailbox the other day. Apparently it's been making the rounds on the Chinese-language internet:

花都芙蓉璋水库，每年都有好几个人莫明溺水死亡。到最近有个高官的子弟与朋友一起到水库游水溺死亡，才发现惊天秘密！
Each year, a few people will be drowned mysteriously in Huadu's Furong Reservoir. It was not until recently when the brother of a certain official went swimming in the reservoir with his friend and were drowned that the secret was unravelled!
竟然是一条有三米多长，头有一米多宽的吃人唐蚤！宰割唐蚤后，惊人的发现：在其肚中竟然有人的骸骨！
It's a 3 metre long man-eating catfish whose head alone is 1 metre wide! After cutting up the catfish people were surprised to find the remains of a man inside!

由于事件影响大，当地政府怕影响当地的旅游，下令封锁消息，但却有现场的人用手机偷拍的到捕获的吃人鱼！
Because this was a huge incident, and the local government was afraid of the impact on local tourism, they imposed an embargo on the news, but people came away with these pictures taken on their cell phones of the man-eating fish!

Swimming in the reservoir is now forbidden because it is feared another similar man-eating catfish is still lurking in the waters.
Now we're not experts on aquatic life and can't confirm to you if that is really some mutant form of the clarius batrachus (walking catfish) as the email suggested (where are the whiskers?), but some netizens have already raised doubts saying this is a whale shark (鲸鲨) instead. Now you decide for yourself: Does it look more like the walking catfish or the whale shark? And if it is the whale shark, which is "vulnerable to extinction" according to Wikipedia, why did they kill it? Well, perhaps because they thought it killed a bunch of people. But how did they find it, and catch it, and why did they kill it and chop it up in such a public manner, we wonder? We bet scientists would have liked to see this alive first (we imagine saltwater whale sharks don't pop up in freshwater reservoirs too often ... nor, we guess, do 30cm catfish regularly turn into three-meter mutants).

But wait. The Huadu government has also made a statement to dissociate itself from the post, saying that the contents of the post do not match the photos. Also, no sighting of any large man-eating fish has been reported, and that no deaths have occurred in the reservoir between 25 July of last year and now.

As we have been accused of doing so in the past, we might choose to side with the government on this one. Seems very likely that these are pics of a random whale shark killing that a prankster decided to spread around masked as the Huadu Reservoir man-eating monster. It would seem the prank was a success.

But you never know ... especially in Chinese waters. Swim at your own risk.

In a few days my beloved country will celebrate it's independence; I tried to find a reason why Malaysia is better than other countries. I almost gave up but I found the reason. In u try to spit on Uncle Mao's picture in Tienanmen Square and that would land you an eternal stay in Uncle Mao's 5 star hotel (in china its called prison). But in Malaysia if u said Agung is Ah Gong you still can get away. Maybe stay in jail few days, get bashed up but in china no no, its boom biddy bye bye. All look at that Falun gong or dafa thing; its just like yoga but some chinese official got jitters and started to shit himself and caught all of them and killed them. Not just that, he stole their organs and sold it for a handsome profit.

So if you farking ediots dont agree Malaysia is a good country go live in china.

Costa Rican authorities seized 300 boxes of Chinese toothpaste tainted with a toxic chemical on Friday, following mass raids on distributors of the product in other countries.

Thousands of tubes of the ‘Mr Cool’ brand toothpaste, along with another Chinese-made toothpaste, Excel, have been pulled from store shelves in Panama and the Dominican Republic.

The United States said this week it was checking all toothpaste shipments from China as a precautionary measure.

The contaminated brands contain high levels of the lethal chemical diethylene glycol, responsible for the deaths of at least 100 people in Panama last year after government-made cough syrups were found to contain the chemical.

Panama says the chemical, often used as an engine coolant, was imported from China mislabeled as a similar but more expensive compound frequently found in medicines. HIV Spreading Rapidly in Malaysia

The number of HIV infections in Malaysia could surge by more than fourfold to 300,000 by 2015 as the virus spreads rapidly from high-risk groups to the general public, a senior health official warned Sunday.

Other than drug addicts, official statistics indicate the HIV virus that causes AIDS is spreading quickly to women, fishermen, lorry drivers and factory workers, said Ramlee Rahmat, deputy director-general of public health.

Some 73,000 Malaysians have been infected with HIV, of which 75 percent are intravenous drug users and 7 percent are women, he said.

"Based on the trend that we are seeing, HIV infections can escalate to 300,000 cases by 2015 if we do not do anything," Ramlee said.

The government has taken aggressive steps to fight HIV transmission under a five-year national strategic plan launched in 2006, he said.

This include drug substitution therapy and needle exchange programs for drug addicts, and providing free antiretroviral drugs at government clinics especially for women and children.

"We have put up intervention measures. We are taking this very seriously. If we carry out our plans effectively and the public cooperates with us, we will be successful in curbing the spread of the disease," he added.

UNAIDS has last year said Malaysia was among several Asia-Pacific countries that risked an HIV epidemic among drug users unless the government took the problem more seriously.

Three people die from AIDS-related illness every day in Malaysia, the Health Ministry has said. It warned last year that the spread of AIDS could wipe out Malaysia's development made over the last 50 years and devastate the economy.

I know people like pictures so here's one of me taken last year in Seiko Gakuen which is the name of the school I worked with last year in Tokushima, Shiikoku Japan. I felt that they weren't really truthful about the contact terms so I left.
